Tastemap is beta testing a wine recommendation algorithm that will offer an accurate, reliable and objective service that will enable its users to know how much they will appreciate a wine before they taste it. We feel there are too many disempowered wine consumers who are too easily swayed by expert ratings before they have developed an awareness of their own taste. We are particularly skeptical of expert ratings from publications that accept advertising for the same wines that they rate. This corrupt pay-to-play system encourages producers to spend ever-increasing amounts of money on advertising, resulting in overpriced wines that deliver less value for consumers. We hope that services like Tastemap will help usher in a new age of intelligent shopping driven by consumer tastes in all their diversity where products succeed based on their merits rather than savvy and costly marketing that consumers ultimately have to pay for. If you have an invitation code, please click on the sign up tab above, if not, please request an invitation code on to the right with a brief explanation of how you know about us and why you would like to test Tastemap.
